Coach Stores, London

Refurbishment and reconfiguration of prime retail space in Mayfair to accommodate Coach’s flagship New Bond Street store.

Complex structural works were designed and delivered on a very tight programme. Key elements included formation of large voids in the existing steel framed floors, installation of a new elliptical feature stair and the introduction of a new lift pit that conflicted significantly with a large column foundation on the Party Wall line.

Additionally, a scheme to maintain the permanent stability of the historic riveted steel frame was implemented where the existing stability was compromised by the extensive works to the floors.

MHA was also involved in the design of Coach’s Westfield store. This project involved hidden detailing of the shop front facade over movement joints and design of a back of house mezzanine.
